Router Troubleshooting - No Computers Can Connect

Checking the Physical Connections is always the first step because improperly connected hardware is the most common cause of network problems.

Checking Physical
Connections and
Link Lights

At least 1 computer should be connected via Ethernet for troubleshooting purposes:
  • Check that the broadband modem is inserted into the routers Internet Port.
  • Check which port on the back of the router that the computer(s) are connected to.
  • Check the illumination of lights 1 - 4 on the front of the router, each number corresponds to the port on the back of the router that the computer(s) are connected to. If the link light is not illuminated for one of the connections, make sure that the PC is turned on and that both ends of the cable are firmly plugged into their corresponding ports.
  • Also make sure that the Internet link light is illuminated solid, or flickering occasionally. If the Internet Link is blinking, Click here
